We are proud to launch – HomeLifeforPALS.org – a unique resource for answers to home care questions. This web-based program is designed to help families improve their quality of life by offering solutions to challenges presented by ALS. HomeLifeforPALS.org provides information in a user friendly format on research based caregiving methods, medical equipment, and home modifications.
Home Life for PALS (people with ALS) features virtual rooms with images that have “mouse-over” capability to provide users the ability to click on objects in the image. This enables caregivers to learn about equipment and tools that make it easier and safer for both the caregiver and patient. This project is unique in that there are no similar resources available for ALS patients or their caregivers. The foundation received the National Alliance for Caregiving “Innovators in Caregiving Award” for this program.
Home Life for PALS was made possible with the help of Carolinas Neuromuscular ALS Center and a partnership with CapTech facilitated by Apparo. Virtual Home images are provided courtesy of Shea Homes. Through Apparo’s Skilled Volunteer Engagement program, the foundation was matched with CapTech to help take this program from a vision to a reality.
Thousands will be able to access and benefit from this much needed resource. Your donations helped make this possible and we thank you for continuing to support The Joe Martin ALS Foundation.
