Event and Marketing Coordinator Summer Internship Program
2019 – The Joe Martin ALS Foundation
Internship Description: Summer internship offered for college course credit for motivated and passionate individual looking for experience in event planning, marketing and the non-profit sector. Responsible for marketing, social media presence and managing elements of the organization’s summer special events and fundraising programs. These include a large-scale fundraising dinner, silent auction, and Joe’s Camp – an overnight camp for youth whose family has been touched by ALS.
Skills Required: Self-starter and highly motivated individual with good communication and technology skills and a strong desire to help others and their community. Intern will work from our uptown office and from home. Intern must provide own laptop.

Timeline and Hours: May – August 2018, 15 hours per week
Overview of Key Projects and Responsibilities:
Annual Joe Martin ALS Foundation Rivalry Softball Game:
• Participate in budget planning and income projection planning.
• Create, deliver, edit and optimize marketing materials to promote event
• Supervise social media outreach
• Create press releases and deliver to media contacts
• Attend Softball Committee conference call meetings
Softball Game Silent Auction
• Create framework of auction with a variety of interests, themes and values.
• Collaborate with committee and team to secure $15,000 of items.
• Build tracking system in excel for auction leads and necessary follow-up.
• Craft auction recruitment tools, sell sheets and information.
• Follow up with donors in a timely manner to thank them for their donation and to secure pick up.
Live Every Day Dinner:
• Participate in budget planning and income projection planning.
• Create, deliver, edit and optimize marketing materials to promote event
• Supervise social media outreach
• Create press releases and deliver to media contacts
• Attend Live Every Day Dinner Committee meetings
• Attend and assist at dinner if able
Social Media Presence:
• Build on organization’s social media to other outlets including but not limited to Instagram and Twitter.
• Increase followers on Facebook and other outlets by 10%
• Create summer social media marketing campaign to raise awareness of ALS and The Joe Martin ALS Foundation.
• Create 3 educational videos featuring Joe Martin ALS Foundation staff to highlight services provided and offer information and support to those with ALS.
